Two wounded souls meet at a coffee shop and find a way to heal each other. The horror of Jay’s loss was heartbreaking. He deserves a happily ever after. Abby has an empathetic side but she’s also strong and determined to reach her dreams.
I loved the interaction between the characters. Ms. Crowe draws you into their lives and makes you cheer for their happiness. All of Ms. Crowe’s stories remind you about what’s important in life and show “real” people…people you’re friends with or wish to know. While this story has it’s dark moments, the message of healing is very clear. A recommended read for lovers of stories with heart and heat!

Healing Hearts The Challenge series eBook Liz Crowe Reviews
I am a big fan of Liz Crowe’s stories, especially her Stewart Realty series. Healing Hearts is a standalone novella which made for a quick read, but it is definitely a heartbreaker. Jay Longmire, who had success in business, a loving wife, daughter, and son, was dealt an enormous physical, emotional and psychological blow. Liz capably portrays his heartache, depression, guilt, and that he was incapable of dealing with the world for many months. He retreats to another city and spends part of his time in a coffee shop, lost in his thoughts, and where he meets Abigail Powers. She also attends community college, takes care of her mother, and is anxiously awaiting a response for admissions to a nursing program. Abigail has also dealt with several emotional issues but doesn’t hesitate to help Jay.
Jay and Abigail both have various issues to deal with as they try to figure out whether they can be friends or more. Liz is a compelling storyteller and able to make you feel a part of the character’s lives and feelings. In most novella’s you sometimes feel that you don’t get enough of the story to understand the characters, but not so in this story. With tears in my eyes, I definitely felt the pain that both Jay and Abigail dealt with and wonder how I would fare in a similar situation.
The book title accurately fits the story, with two hearts broken by various events, and the potential for healing each other. I have read at least a dozen of Ms. Crowe’s books, and, once again, she has written an amazing story. I highly recommend this story, along with her numerous other books. Her books are more about real life and sometimes the HEA isn’t exactly what you think it should be, but becomes one that you never forget.

Awww another great story from Liz!! It may be a short story, but it doesn't short you on drama, emotions, tears, love, sympathy, I could go on and on.... Once again, I could "see" the whole story unfold in my mind as I was reading it. Now off to write my reviews.....so when's the next one coming out? Time for a new countdown!?! ). The first book in the Challenge Series Healing Hearts was written by Liz Crowe, author of Stewart Realty Series, as well as many other wonderful stand alone books. Healing Hearts was a wonderfully written story of a man struggling with the horrible aftermath of a family tragedy. I loved this story from the very beginning! You just can't go wrong with a Liz Crowe book, so much emotion, makes her books seem so realistic. Enjoy this story, I highly recommend it!
Short, heartbreaking at points but more great characters from Liz Crowe! Another strong-willed female protagonist who can stand on her own two feet - we need more characters like these!
Liz did it again-what a great story. Learning to survive after such tragedy Jay is a flawed and scarred man who takes a chance at loving again. It's a quick read packed full of emotion and power. Highly recommend this book! Thanks!
These two have a terrible past to move on from but together they can. Be ready for a great book to read this Summer!
